Youth Week is an opportunity for young people to express their ideas and views, act on issues that affect their lives, and create and enjoy activities and events.
This year it runs from 16 to 26 April and young people aged 12 to 24 are invited to get involved.
Here are some great events to check out in our area:
Think Fast: applied improv workshop
Thursday 16 April from 5pm to 8pm
Canva Space, Surry Hills
Wish you were better at thinking on your feet? This free, high-energy applied improv workshop will provide you with the skills to speak clearly, connect confidently, and respond in the moment, without overthinking. Through fast-paced, interactive activities, you’ll build real-world communication skills for everything from interviews to everyday conversations.
Led by Sydney Comedy School founder and former journalist, diplomat and comedian Dave Crisante, the session is designed for 16 to 24 year-olds ready to step outside their comfort zone and find their voice. Spots are limited, secure yours early.
Haul in the Hall Markets
Saturday 18 April from 10am to 2pm
Lower Town Hall, Sydney Town Hall
We are reimagining traditional marketplaces by removing financial barriers for young creatives. This event is designed, run and stocked entirely by people under 25, featuring curated second-hand fashion and other goods priced at $100 or less.
With no entry or stall fees, we've created an accessible platform for young sellers to showcase sustainable ventures and pre-loved items. Set in a city landmark and aligned with the Youth Week theme 'Dream. Dare. Do.', Haul in the Hall highlights the innovation and entrepreneurship of young people while offering a more inclusive, community-driven shopping experience.
Applications for stalls close 5pm, Friday 27 March. Find out more and apply.
Off the Record: acoustic sessions
Friday 24 April from 5:30pm to 8:30pm
Canva Space, Surry Hills
Sydney’s coolest emerging music night – designed by young creatives, for young creatives. This event is for young music lovers aged 16 to 24 years.
Whether you’re a die-hard music lover, a casual listener or just curious about Sydney’s creative scene, Off the Record is your chance to break away from the mainstream and add new songs to your playlist, while supporting local passionate young creatives. Enjoy live acoustic performances across multiple genres– from soft melodies to rap. Plus, enjoy free gourmet food – we're serving quality eats to accompany live performances, not just complimentary pizza.
