7 ways to celebrate Christmas in Sydney

See highlights of the festive season including free concerts, markets, light displays and the tallest Christmas tree in NSW.

Dust off your reindeer ears, put on your dancing shoes and kick off the festive season at our free, family-friendly concerts.

Concerts are happening in Pyrmont, Rosebery, Rushcutters Bay, Glebe and Alexandria. Performers will vary across concerts, but some names include Team Dream, The Quokkas, Lucas Proudfoot and Junkyard Beats.

The performances are designed with accessibility and inclusivity in mind to be enjoyed by everyone, including Auslan interpreters, large screen with live captions, sensory tents for quiet and creative play, and accessible toilets.

We’re closing part of Crown Street between Foveaux and Cleveland streets to traffic for a day to night celebration.

Don’t miss Santa’s sleigh ride and your chance for a photo with him. Enjoy markets, a family games, live performances, roving entertainment and children’s craft activities. There’ll also be plenty of food for sale.  

You can also enter your pooch in the dog show.

Santa's elves worked around the clock to design his house in Martin Place where he’ll stay for festive season. In fact, Santa requested that we invite everyone to his workshop for a magical photo session.

To top it all off, $5 from every booking will go directly to Variety – The Children’s Charity. This is a picture you can feel good about.

Get your family, pets, friends or coworkers together for your santa pic.

NSW's tallest Christmas tree, will be decked out in more than 110,000 LEDs and 330 specially created baubles.

Explore lights and decorations across the city centre, including Sydney Town Hall, Customs House, Hyde Park, St Mary's Cathedral and the David Jones windows on Elizabeth Street. You can also walk under a  Canopy of Light and view Christmas projections at the Queen Victoria Building and the Woolworths building across from Sydney Town Hall.

Enjoy choirs performing all your favourite carols, filling Sydney’s streets with song and music. See them live each evening in Martin Place together with a kaleidoscope of colour and lights.

Sydney Town Hall is getting festive with an evening of carols, music, readings and pageantry.

A truly memorable night for the whole family, in one of Sydney’s most beautiful buildings.

Tickets are selling fast for this much-loved event.

Martin Place Christmas Markets come to life

The Christmas markets in Martin Place  will be a highlight of the season with delicious global food stalls and handmade gifts.

11am - 9:30pm
Thursday, Friday and Saturday from Thursday 27 November to Saturday 20 December.

Sunday 30 November from 11am to 9:30pm
