Lunar New Year Festival on Kensington Street
Looking for the bustling street festival vibes but can’t make it to Sydney Lunar Streets? This free, family-friendly event in Chippendale is packed with lion dances, face painting, red envelope giveaways, fortune telling and more.
Saturday 21 February, 2pm to 7pm
Lunar Sea
Immerse yourself in a full day of Lunar New Year celebrations at the Australian National Maritime Museum. Learn the art of traditional calligraphy, watch lion and dragon dances, and have fun with face painting and art workshops.
Sunday 22 February, 10am to 4pm
Horsing Around!
Play big with our giant Jenga, Connect 4 and snakes and ladders. Our huge games on Hay Street are free for you to play. Drop by for some family fun before you gallop into the Lunar New Year.

Horse Power: Year of the Horse children’s workshops
Discover the remarkable stories of horses in human history, culture and art at the University of Sydney’s Chau Chak Wing Museum. Create and decorate your own horse art and learn more about the animal race at the heart of the Chinese zodiac.
