Things to do

Seasonal blooms all year round!

Sydney streets come alive with living colour displays

Living colour cathedral square

Summer has arrived in Sydney with our living colour displays now in bloom.

Enjoy more than 30,000 plants and flowers in vibrant festive colours. Of course there’s the fabulous flowering pyramid at St Mary’s Cathedral Square, but there are plenty of flowers along the way. This year’s plants focus on edible and pharmaceutical varieties in line with the 2024 theme ‘Plants as a Resource’. Drawing on the knowledge and practices of Indigenous cultures.

You can spot them across the city centre and in Green Square, Erskineville and Glebe until early March.

The plants are grown in local Sydney nurseries before being installed in flower pots and displayed in intricate designs across the city.

We use recycled water from Green Square to water the displays and all plants are cared for without pesticides.

When it's time for the temporary displays to be packed away, plants will be offered as a donation to community gardens, early childhood centres and schools.
