The last Friday of August each year is Wear It Purple Day. This year it’s on Friday 30 August.

The day includes numerous events and is all about celebrating and supporting young people of diverse sexualities and genders while challenging existing societal attitudes.

Florian Wild: Monster

Join this Melbourne cabaret star for a punchy hour of powerhouse vocals and quickfire stand-up, diving into the depths of the monster within us all. As part of the Sydney Fringe Festival, the evening's sermon addresses serious social quandaries and explores what it means to be a 'monster' in today’s world with humour and heart.

Wear It Purple Day: Laser cut jewellery workshop

You’ll learn the basics of photo editing, image preparation, and laser cutting while creating your own unique jewellery designs (with endless purple colour options of course!). Open to young people aged 12 to 16.

LGBTIQA+ discussion group with Adam Doughty & Speedy Shatari

Connect, learn, and share in a supportive and welcoming environment. This gathering is designed to bring people from the community together to chat, share ideas, and explore issues of importance to LGBTIQA+ communities. For this Wear It Purple edition, the City of Sydney Library is excited to welcome guest facilitators Speedy Shatari and Adam Doughty.
